Forensic division and the Food & Liquor division of the Government Analyst’s department consist of nine major laboratories. Currently all the nine laboratories are accredited for their major testing services in conformity to requirements of ISO 17025:2017. The conformity assessments are conducted by the local accreditation body, the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) which is a full member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and is a signatory to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of ILAC.


The analytical services are conducted by the competent expertise personal of respective field in each laboratory in accordance with the department quality management system (QMS). Laboratories are maintained the accuracy of the test results through internal and external quality control processers such as analyzing quality control samples and periodic participation of proficiency testing (PT) programs (both international and local) and inter-laboratory comparisons (ILC). Besides analysis are carried out using more sensitive high-tech instruments. Along with the department QMS, periodic equipment calibration and maintenance, training of personnel, review through internal and vertical audits, identifying risks and opportunities and continuous improvements are conducted.
